Personal Statement

I am a dedicated and influential leader working confidently in the contexts of both Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti spheres of influence.

I am an educator with a strong belief in growing the skills, capabilities and confidence of others.  An organisation grows and flourishes when we build strong relationships, trust and teamwork and everyone knows what the vision is and the means to get there.

I have the ability given time, to foster meaningful partnerships with iwi, hapū, whānau, and the wider community. I have a solid background in Māori development and strategic leadership.  This is based on Māori whakapapa, knowledge of tikanga and Te Ao Māori and work as the principal of a dual medium school for 13 years. It is also based on work as a school leader for a total of 24 years and leadership roles in the MAC organisation and my lived experiences. I have been successful in supporting principals, and school leaders in implementing Strategic planning infused with  Te Ao Māori, tikanga, Mātauranga and Te Reo Māori.    My areas of professional influence have included the Waikato Region, Otago and Southland, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu and Auckland. I have presented numerous workshops and keynote presentations across these regions over the last 8 years.

I have fluency in te reo Māori and am able to communicate effectively in both Māori medium and English medium contexts.
